Day 74

Thanks to my cousin Chris, I was able to get a ticket to go watch our local hockey team, the Sarnia Sting, play their last home game of the season. They’re the team in black and yellow shown in the photo above, and they won the game 4-2.

You’ll see #97 up close in the photo above on the opposing team; he’s a prospect player for the Toronto Maple Leafs, the NHL team that I follow. So I was watching him closely and though both him and his team didn’t play all that well, I always knew when he was on the ice. He seemed to be faster than all the other guys, and I hope he someday makes it to the NHL so I can watch him compete with the big boys in the big league.

Day 73

This photo is best viewed in full-screen as it holds an incredible amount of detail!

Today’s shot is one of my favorites so far because – keeping in mind that I’m no expert – I feel this image has really great composition overall. As far as I can tell, at least. Of course the pine-cone is the main focus, but there’s also a lot of other details going on, with not a lot of empty space.

The detail is pretty incredible when viewed in full, actually. And to be completely frank, I’m not even sure how I got this image. I took almost 50 photos when I was out there (yesterday), and it was so snowy and cold that for most of the time I wasn’t able to see exactly what I was shooting. I was more worried about keeping the wet snow off my camera, then what I was taking pictures of.

Day 72

Right up front I want to mention that technically this is a photograph from when I was out taking pictures yesterday. I ended up with a lot of great shots, and I figured before I head out for the afternoon today it would be a good idea to share one of those photos and get my post up at a decent time. I’m positive that I get more interested viewers when I post during the day. It certainly feels that people take notice more often when I get my post up mid-day. So that’s what we’re doing today!

Now, of course I’m still going to head out in a short while to get some photos for today. I do it every single day, and I’m not going to break that chain. That’s part of this whole building a habit thing. I’m already there with creating art everyday, I want to get there with taking photographs as well. It’s something I’ve never done – but always wanted to do – before this year.

Basically, there have been lots of times over the past few years where I’m creating some artwork, and I’ve needed photographs as reference material to get something to look just right. Whether that’s a tree, a person, or something else, it’s always beneficial to use references. Rather than look for those online, I want to be able to take my own photographs and incorporate those into my artwork. That’s the general idea anyways.

Day 71

As I’m writing this, my website is down. I believe it’s currently being worked on to bring it back, so right now I’m using notepad to write this out.

Today was one of those days where I ended up with a gaggle of photos that I feel would have been more than sufficient to use for my photo of the day. I was able to whittle it down to just a single image though, and I’m quite happy with the one I picked out! It’s not as “stylish” as the others, as they had lots of funky colors and strange angles. There’s just something about the simplicity that I really like 🙂

Day 70

Happy Saturday!

It was another super ridiculously cold day today, and I did not want to go out there and take pictures! Of course, I found a way, and got it done. But did I end up with any worthwhile photos? Meeeeh I’m not entirely sure, myself. This chrome colored tree trunk image that I used today is kinda neat though. Certainly nothing crazy amazing, but then again I wasn’t enjoying myself out there, so only a few things that I decided to photograph were interesting to me. None of which ended up as my photo for the day.

I always take tree and sky pictures while I’m out there, just in case nothing else works out when I get home and look them over.

Day 69

Howdy there!

Was only out for a little while today as I had some company over to keep me busy, and it was a nice relaxing Friday where I had absolutely nowhere I needed to be. Felt great 🙂

So I took whatever interesting shots I could find while I was walking around a little bit in the early afternoon. Something in the sky caught my interest, and it looked a bit like it was raining off in the distance, which was very unlikely since it was so cold out today!

Day 68

The Mangler. It was a movie I watched when I was pretty young (probably too young), and it’s always stuck with me. A possessed machine that chewed people up and spit them out, basically. A pretty horrible thing, but it made a very interesting movie for me when I was a kid. I’ll never forget it.

So basically, I saw this random machine sitting on the side of the road and I just had to take some pictures of it. It totally reminded me of the “creature” from that movie I used to watch, in many ways.

Just because I’m a cool person, here’s another photo of some details up close 😀
