Day 32

I wonder if this would be a go-to spot for survivors in a zombie apocalypse situation? The walls are scale-able, and there’s no choke points where clumps of zombies would gather. There’s also second floor windows, and also the roof itself. Small entrances/exists are also important as good spots to escape if need be.

So yeah! I can totally imagine a horde of mindless zombies gathered together on this pavement area here. I think I’m going to go on my Instagram and darken this picture up a bit. Remove some of the colors too. You know, bleak-ify the whole thing.

Day 31

And you thought yesterday’s picture had a horror movie feel…

I had a lot of difficulty deciding on which picture to use for today’s post. I took a bunch of shots around this area, and nothing was really jumping out at me. It was snowing, and very cold. I also had yesterday’s picture in mind where I ended up with a photo that was reminiscent of something from The Walking Dead (as my mom pointed out at first).

So, while I was out there today I had that horror movie feel in mind. I think big empty spaces is what I was trying to find today.

Day 30

I’ve been wanting to take a picture of this tower thing for awhile now, and I’ve been hesitating because the way the perspective is with this camera. That tower just feels way too small here! In real life it feels ominous (to me at least) as it towers overhead. I think with a better camera I’ll be able to change perspective a bit, and make it look larger.

Another thing I like about this photograph is that it’s a little reminiscent of something like The Walking Dead. It definitely has a bit of a post apocalyptic vibe going on. Which is pretty dang cool! It’s kind of inspiring me to find some more potential spots to photograph that could also be straight out of a story like that.

Would anyone really want to see that? Before I started this 2017 project I had the idea of taking photos and writing little snippets of story to go along with it, so maybe I could do that.

Day 29

Today I decided to pay more attention to the little details around me. I don’t know what to exactly say about this particular tree stump today, but I thought it was interesting enough to photograph in the moment. So I took a few photos, and upon arriving home and looking them over, I was able to appreciate details in the lines.

This isn’t exactly how I’ve been taking my pictures since I started – you know, up real close like this – but I figure by the time I get to 365 days/photos, I’ll have taken pictures of absolutely everything within at least a 2 block radius of where I live! So, I have to keep trying new things and even share the ones that don’t work, as well as the ones that do.

Day 28

I’m not all that happy with today’s photo, but I just wasn’t feeling it today. I didn’t want to be out there, and I feel that my photo pretty much sums that feeling up.

The reason I took a picture of this snowy field is – because of the footprints – I was reminded that the mud is still just barely hiding underneath. This nearby field has been really flooded lately and pretty much impassable. Then it got cold and some snow fell, and now it’s way less swampy to travel through.

Hopefully tomorrow’s a more interesting day! Or I’ll just find some more trees to take upside-down photos of! Those seem to go over well with people 🙂

Day 27

I woke up to some snow and I just had to take a picture of it. Throughout this project I’ve taken a lot of pictures where I’m looking up and trying to get as much sky into the frame as possible, I thought it would be cool to look down for once. Especially considering that all the mud and dead grass is covered up now. I’ve been very hesitant to take any shots of that because it’s just not pleasant to look at.

There’s a decent chance that I’ll finally be picking up a new camera next week! Possibly Monday even. I recently discovered that the camera that I’ve been using this year is a bit worse than I thought as far as mega pixel count goes. Just about any camera I buy at this point is going to be at least 4x better in that regard, and will of course have a whole lot of other useful features as well.

Day 26

My focus today was the clouds, and I took a bunch of photos as I walked around today. The sun was rather sneaky today, and it was nice to have a moment where the sun tried to show through. The grass is kind of disgusting though as it’s just that time of year. Everything’s dead and covered in mud/snow.

I think it’ll be fantastic timing (hopefully) that as I get a better camera, the Spring will be creeping up on us. Things will start growing, grass will eventually get greener, and there will finally be some natural color out there. It will be nice to have some nice clear blue skies to make the top half of some of these shots a lot nicer. I also love interesting cloud formations though!
