Just like the majority of my drawings, the vision for what this was going to become changed dramatically a couple times. Usually I start out with a vague idea of what I want to draw, then it kind of shifts into something else entirely as I go along. This was literally supposed to be a moon…
“So, that crater kind of looks like…. Okay let’s Death Star the hell outta this moon.”
That’s pretty much how my thought process went as I went along painting. I began this drawing without doing any prior research to see what an actual moon with craters actually looks like. You know, shadows and color schemes. I wanted to just experiment and have some fun with it. So, I’m sure this actually looks nothing like the actual Death Star, I just went from memory and never stopped painting.
I’ve categorized this under “Work in Progress”, so I’ll mess around with it tomorrow and see what I can add to it. It needs a lot more detail, and more of those green lasery things for sure! I’ve also noticed that those white lines around the crater like section need some shadows to look like they’re hovering a bit.
Anyways, that’s it from me today. Hope everyone is enjoying their Friday!
