Day 46

At first I was going to use the photographs I took of the Galaga machine this afternoon at the laundromat, but I messed up. I realized afterwards (but while I was still out walking around the city) that I had accidentally had my camera in night mode. As I was browsing my previous shots I noticed that they were all wrong; way too bright and some of them were very blurry. I checked my options and saw that night mode was turned on. I’m a dumb face.

So, rather than back tracking and doing those pictures over again, I decided to try some other stuff. More trees. So I took a few photos of some moss on a tree and boy… that sure turned out pretty good!

Am I nuts, or does that look ridiculously good? What an improvement over the tech I was using just a few days ago. This camera is miles ahead of what I’m used to. It’s no professional grade camera, but it’s easily all I’m going to need to last me the rest of the year. I’m sure of that!

What do you think?

Day 45

I found a Bart Simpson while I was out adventuring today. It’s not really the best rendition of the character, but I can tell they put the effort in. I just imagine a couple backwards hat wearing, baggy jean’d, 30 somethings…

“Hey, you said you had some spray paint?”

“Yeah huh.”

“Let’s see whatcha got, dog!”

“Mhmm.”

“Nice.. nice. So we gots black, blue, and some red, and a bunch of yellow. Holy shit, dog! I gots an idea.”

Anyways, I didn’t want to photograph anything overly complicated or even all that artistic (as far as my shot is concerned) today, because I don’t want to feel any pressure to keep over performing with each photograph day after day. I did actually take some pretty awesome photos today, but there were things about them that I didn’t like.

This one here, for example; I like the chain link blur effect, but the focus of the shot is pretty much that garbage can. Nothing interesting is really happening behind this fence here. So I’ll use that fence effect for another shot some other time. Then, I also took some pictures of some trees, and they look way better than the ones I’ve taken previously, but I’ve still taken lots of tree shots this year, and I feel like I don’t need to do that as often as I did before.

I’m sure I’ll be posting more photos and artsy stuff throughout the week. Probably more today, even! Keep an eye on my Twitter and Instagram 🙂

Day 43

I can’t help but wonder how great this captured moment would have been with a better camera. I tried to remove as much graininess as I could, without making the overall image too fuzzy. So it actually is better than what it was originally, but still… not a fan of the grain. The image however, is beautiful.

Only a few more days remain before my new camera arrives in the mail!

It was a cold, wet, dark, and cloudy day while I was out there taking my photos for the day. I didn’t find much of anything all that interesting, and there are some life things going on that are stressing me out, so I didn’t want to be out there to begin with really. Things turned around though while I was visiting my mom, who lives up on the 5th floor of this apartment building. As the day was ending and the sun began to set, it suddenly got bright in her living room. I was able to snap a few pictures of the sunset and besides the overall low qualityness of the tech I’m using, the actual photo turned out great.

One of my personal favorites so far.

Now to head over to Instagram to see what I can make with this photo. Perhaps I’ll give it a painted look, or just go crazy and abstract it!

Day 42

It’s really important that I spend more of my time doing interesting paintings with these photos I’m taking. A few years ago it would have been impossible to imagine how I could take a photo, like today’s photo for example, and digitally paint it or generally create my own artwork from it. Now though, I can already figure it all out in my head before I even put “brush” to “canvas”. Though there will still likely be some hurdles I would have to go through to get specific effects that I would want, I know I would figure it out. I always do.

Day 41

Happy Friday, people!

Today’s photo is kind of simple. It was ridiculously cold out there, so I didn’t want to spend too much time wandering around trying to find the perfect shot. So I took a few here and there, and then decided to take a quick shot from the middle of the street! I think it turned out okay haha

My new camera is in Winnipeg right now! I’m not sure why, but that’s exciting! I think every day that I look up the tracking information and see that it’s in a new city, travelling across Canada, is always exciting. It should arrive in around 5 days or so 🙂

Day 40

It’s funny how I go out and take some photos, and then come home not all that happy with the pictures I took in the moment, but when I look them over on my computer I find one that jumps out at me and actually ends up pretty good. Besides the horrible graininess due to my shitty camera, I rather like this picture!

You know, being forced to use lower than average tools kinda makes you feel like you need to be more creative. Does that make sense? I wonder how I’ll work when I get my new camera, and have all these fancy features and – potentially – everything will be a quick click away. Maybe it’ll just remove any and all frustrations and limitations and I’ll be able to try new things! You never know…
