Webcomic Page Complete: Day 239

First page of a web comic by Robert Chapman

I’ve been sitting here for awhile trying to figure out what I should be writing in this space, and nothing is really coming to mind. I remember reading some stuff awhile back about how you can write about the story behind your artwork. Even when there doesn’t seem to be an obvious story, there’s always some unique details to share.

So, the first thing that comes to mind, regarding this webcomic, is that this kid was originally supposed to have an eye parch. It sounds a bit silly now, but he would of gathered strength when he put the eye patch on. I’m not too sure if it would of been a pirate thing, or whatever, but maybe it would be tied to an important memory. Like the last Halloween with a parent, or a friend, or something along those lines.

I decided not to have the eye patch in the picture, so the character was more relatable right off the bat. It would likely be confusing to start a webcomic off that way, and maybe a bit jarring as well. Perhaps, the readers would be introduced to it a little bit later on in the story.

Yeah the eyepiece can be a later plot device like in an rpg when the character acquires a new item that’s special to the story

    • Sounds about right. It could be on his bed post. Maybe he has all kinds of items he uses to gain powers 🙂

Maybe he acquires strength from the band aid lol but yeah maybe he gets the eyepatch later like every issue he needs a special item like in a rpg
