Library Complete: Day 289

The Library Complete by Robert Chapman

Doooooone! Though there are some books there that don’t quite look like they’re on the perfect angle. Despite that, and when you consider that I’ve never done something this detailed before, or used the specific tools I did in this way, I’m quite satisfied with the finished version! When I finish a piece of artwork I don’t think there’s ever been a time where I was truly satisfied with it. There seems to always be minor things to nitpick. Today though, the gripes are extremely minor (at this time, anyways) and I couldn’t be happier with it.

Rather than dwell on the super minor details though, it’s best I move forward. I’m going to have to find something new to draw soon, and use what I’ve learned from this piece to make it even better than this one. One upping myself is something I’ve avoided, and I may feel differently about it tomorrow, but I want to do something awesome. I’m not sure how I’m going to achieve that yet exactly, but I would like to take my time all over again and do something epic. At least as epic as this library anyways!

Space. I think I should go back to science fiction and maybe do a spaceship. At the moment I’m writing this, that sounds like a really fun idea. What do you think? Also, how did this library turn out? After looking at it every day for about two weeks or whatever, there’s a chance I’m overlooking some obvious missteps, so… anything going on in this picture that doesn’t look right?

Oh right, so about what I did today; The little fire wisp is now reading the book along with the wizard, I added lots of shading to all kinds of bits, I threw some books on the floor (perhaps I should of made one lying there open?), I edited the eyes again (leaving it alone now!), and I finished off the books on the shelf on the right. There’s probably a few more things I did, but those are the changes I remember.

Alright, thanks for checking this out! As always, I appreciate any comments, shares, and especially feedback. Thank you to everyone that’s helped me along the way during the last year. You know who you are. I’m coming up to my 300th day in a row. That’s kind of a big deal, right? I have a couple more months to go…

This is definitely one of your best pieces Robert, there are so many of them but this is high up there 🙂 yeah now that you’ve done a fantasy picture going to science fiction is the natural choice! I would love to see you tackle all kinds if genres

    • Hey! I swear I replied already. Maybe it disappeared. Thanks, Brad! I’m anxious to take my time and make an epic sci-fi scene.

  • eggy1187 .

Wow. This is pretty epic. Love how his “light source” looks like a mini “bomb” creature. At least to me it does.

    • Yes! He has little eyes if you see it full screen. He’s reading the book too lol thanks for the comment, Eggy!
