100 Days Left: Day 265

New Space by Robert Chapman

It’s funny, there were a few moments where I wasn’t sure if today’s space scene was going to turn out. I was having a heck of a time with… well… pretty much everything. I stuck with it and a couple hours later I ended up with this. I added in a few of my other planets that I’ve made previously. I wasn’t going for a realistic scene today so much as something pretty beautiful to look at, actually.

Photoshop Planet Tutorial: Day 264

"New Stars With Planets" by Robert Chapman

Yesterday, I worked on a star field Photoshop tutorial, and it turned out pretty good. Today, we’re going to try to create a planet together that we’ll be able to toss into our star field when we’re done. I should mention straight away that any of these steps (and same goes for yesterday’s tutorial) aren’t strict rules. You can change whatever you see fit once you get the hang of these Photoshop tools and techniques. So with that, here’s my Photoshop Planet Tutorial!

Star Field Photoshop Tutorial: Day 263

New Stars Complete by Robert Chapman

Today I’ve decided to do something different and make a star field Photoshop tutorial! We’re going to go through the process of creating a star field together. I’ve never written a Photoshop tutorial before, and if I were to guess, I’d say I’m going to end up rambling quite a bit. I have at least a few hours to invest in this project today, so that should give me plenty of time to put something interesting and detailed together. Here we go!

Purple Planet Completed: Day 262

"Purple Planet" by Robert Chapman

This digital painting wasn’t originally intended to be a work in progress, but I spent a few more hours touching it up today. What a difference! I really think this is a picture I would like to have printed out in nice glossy paper, and maybe framed or something. Anyone out there interested in buying some copies? Just wondering… I might be on to something here.

Outer Space: Day 261

"Purple Planet" by Robert Chapman

I forgot how much fun it was to paint space scenes using Photoshop. I can tell that I’m a little bit rusty at it though because it not only took me longer than I expected to get the picture to look this way, but there really isn’t anything in this picture that turned out quite the way I wanted it to. Though, I know that if I spent a few more hours fiddling with a few things I would absolutely end up where I would like this to be.

Photoshop: Day 260

"Star Design" painted in Photoshop by Robert Chapman

I was originally working on a fun pen and paper design today, but then the Micron pen I was using started to act up on me (pretty much the last of the pens I had that was still working correctly) and so out of frustration I broke out the Photoshop and my Wacom tablet and I created something similar to what I was working on before the pen problem cropped up, but it turned out way more awesome this time. Not to mention that I finished this in like 20 minutes! Take that stupid old pen and paper.

Potential Cosmos Project: Day 259

"New Doodle" by Robert Chapman

I was prepared to continue to express my Internet service woes, as well as how cold the weather has suddenly become the last few days. However, today turned out to be a beautiful day for a long walk while I ran an errand, and though I was having Internet problems, right at this moment I’m thankful that everything seems to be running smoothly again.
