Abstract Themes: Day 303

Abstract Tentacle by Robert Chapman

I’m currently not too sure where I’m going with this abstract tentacle thing, but I really needed a break from epic scenes where there’s lots of planning and figuring things out. Today, I just painted a whole lot of wavy lines. It was very relaxing, and I can’t wait to get back to it tomorrow to see where this image ends up.

It’s Sunday, I don’t think anyone wants to spend a lot of time reading things on the Internet today. I certainly don’t want to spend a lot of time writing things on the Internet! So, let’s keep this nice and short, shall we? Then we can all go back to enjoying our Weekend.

Let’s see… when I really think about it, I kind of want to fill this image up with a whole lot of details, but also find a way to just stick to black, gold, and white as the only colors on the page. I’m not sure if that’s going to be possible in the end, but I would certainly like to try to accomplish that.

Making drawings like this one is a lot about discovery for me. I don’t know how it’s going to look when it’s done, I just keep layering different kinds of experiments over top of one another until a theme begins to emerge. I wonder if the theme for this picture will be obvious by the time it’s done. Will there be a theme at all?
