Final Fantasy VII: Day 312

Final Fantasy 7 pattern by Robert Chapman

Okay, so today I was trying to figure out what else I would like to draw today. I still wanted to take something familiar and apply my own pattern-like design over top of it. I decided to choose an iconic shot from the 1997 Playstation game Final Fantasy VII. It’s certainly not my favorite game in the long running series, but I don’t think it’s too far off. It would certainly fit in my top 5, I’m sure. However, it most definitely is – by a long shot – the most famous Final Fantasy. Not to mention that it was revealed just yesterday that the game is being completely remade for a new generation of RPG fans. Seems fitting that I use this as my subject for my next bit of artwork. E3 2015: Day 311

No Man's Sky Pattern Complete by Robert Chapman

Hello! This is going to be a quick post from me today because of all the E3 2015 madness going on all day and all evening. I finished up my No Man’s Sky pattern art today, and it turned out lovely. Don’t you think? I’m super happy with the finished version. When you look at it closely you see all the design patterns and you kind of lose track of the overall image. When you look at it from a respectable distance you see everything combined to produce the full image. Everything turned out exactly as I planned.

Alright! I’m off. Like I said, super speedy post. I hope everyone is having a fantastic Monday afternoon.

No Man’s Sky Pattern: Day 310

NMS Pattern

Hello! Today I show a piece of artwork I’ve been actually working on for a few days now. I’ve previously shared it over on Patreon, but now I’m ready to start posting my progress here. Even though I’m pretty far along, I still have a lot left to do. There’s the matter of figuring out what I’m going to do with the background color, finishing the clouds (possibly darkening them), and filling up the sky with a blue pattern.

Abstract Tentacles Complete: Day 309

AbstractTentacle by Robert Chapman

It’s quite odd how much a piece of artwork can change from beginning to completion. One of the first bits I got started on was the tentacle like shapes, most of which have since been deleted. I named this piece “Abstract Tentacles” and there’s barely any visible tentacle objects left! That’s okay though, I believe the focus still remains to be the wavelike tendrils at the top, so the title still has some meaning.

Virus: Day 308

AbstractTentacle by Robert Chapman

I wonder if I could use this strange drawing technique to draw more actual objects? You know, like trees, and scenery. Space ships maybe? Actually, even though I’m not quite finished with this picture yet, I think I’m going to look up images that I could use to give that a try and see how it goes. I’ll make sure to toss it up on my Patreon page today for subscribers to check out.

Electronic Entertainment Expo: Day 307

AbstractTentacle by Robert Chapman

It’s really crazy how many times this picture has changed. Now I’m working on filling the entire background with those black patterns. Maybe even adding some more color to the picture by filling in different sections with maybe yellow and red. Not entirely sure how that’s going to go down quite yet, but I’m hoping it looks alright. So far I’m happy with how it’s turning out. Though I didn’t get a whole lot of this done today.  Continue reading

I Made a Video: Day 306

Wait. This doesn’t look at all like the previous 305 posts. So, today I spent most of the day putting together a slideshow video of my artwork. This is my first time doing any kind of video media, and it was very rough for awhile there. I’m still not sure I nailed everything the way I wanted to, but I’m satisfied. And I’m also quite positive that my next attempt at a video of this nature is going to be a lot better.
