Minecraft Style: Day 207

Work in Progress Photoshop drawing

I want this image to have a bit of a video game feel to it. Almost like it contains a bunch of building blocks (Minecraft style perhaps) put together to make some artwork. We have the grassy area there, then there’s the water that I just started working on, and I might find a way to put some tan colored dirt in the bottom right squares. Something like that anyways…

What Inspired me Today: Day 206

Photoshop Preview

Today I decided to do something a little different. Since I expect to be working on this picture until really late tonight (Well, occasional hard work is a smart idea right?), I’m going to post what I have so far, in Photoshop preview form, and then go right back to working on it. I’m noticing more and more all the time that when I don’t have my daily post published, and the day is coming to a close, for every minute that passes I get more and more stressed out. It’s not a good feeling, and I can notice it effecting me when I try to create during these evenings when I have yet to make my daily post.

NHL Trade Deadline: Day 205

Interesting Photoshop design

I was unsure whether I would be able to create anything of significance today, because I’ve been helping my father move to his new place this weekend, and I’m pretty exhausted from doing so. Not to mention I’ve had company over and my routine has changed a bit as a result of all that’s going on. However, I did draw something! It actually looks pretty awesome, and I’ll likely finish it up tomorrow.

Pixels: Day 204

Pixel painting

I want today’s picture to be the start of something important, something I look back on and notice a positive trend towards a series of similar drawings. I mentioned a long while ago that I wanted to do some digital paintings inspired by old-school pixel art, and I think this is how I’m going to do it. I just take a particular Photoshop paint brush and just paint each pixel out. However, despite today’s picture already taking about an hour or so to make, it should take quite a lot longer to fill out a full video game screen with a visible image that you should clearly see when viewed in full.

Internet Woes: Day 202

Splatter Drip Painting

It’s just about midnight! No, I didn’t slack off on making my artwork today. Rather, my internet was down for almost the entire day. It’s interesting when that happens though, mainly because you kind of forget how our lives revolve around internet use. I wasn’t able to listen to the usual online radio stations, watch Netflix, get into my website (or any website) and while I was able to get something like 85% of this digital painting complete while my internet was down, I really wanted to look up some abstract paint splatter artwork to see how realistic I could make mine.

Speaking of this, it turned out pretty well. This painting was what I started out with in yesterday’s drawing on paper. I still want to add a little more, without over complicating the picture as a whole. One idea is adding some more of those pixel-like cubes on the edge of the virtual canvas.  I think that would probably be all it needs.

Alright, so it’s after midnight, and I’m pretty tired. I’ll mention one more thing before I get this posted and call it a night: I have plans to add a “Store” link on the bar at the top of my website. Most likely right next to the “Leave tip” link. I’m thinking that I’ll have that link lead to a page within my website with more links (hopefully that’s not annoying) each leading to the various stores where my artwork is for sale online. I think that’s a fantastic idea (which was an idea suggested to me a couple day ago) because it’s not like it’s taking up main real estate or moving any content around. No downside. I like it. It shall be done. Good night!

This Thing I Drew Today: Day 201

Early design

So, what do I do the day after I post that massive celebratory post yesterday? Slack off completely for today, of course! After one of the more busy days I’ve had all winter, including walking in the freezing cold for a good hour or two total yesterday; I needed a bit of a rest. So when I finally get to spending my time creating something, I’m called away and I get busy again. Well, I did make something, of course. And it may even turn out to be something…
