Purple Planet Completed: Day 262

"Purple Planet" by Robert Chapman

This digital painting wasn’t originally intended to be a work in progress, but I spent a few more hours touching it up today. What a difference! I really think this is a picture I would like to have printed out in nice glossy paper, and maybe framed or something. Anyone out there interested in buying some copies? Just wondering… I might be on to something here.

Outer Space: Day 261

"Purple Planet" by Robert Chapman

I forgot how much fun it was to paint space scenes using Photoshop. I can tell that I’m a little bit rusty at it though because it not only took me longer than I expected to get the picture to look this way, but there really isn’t anything in this picture that turned out quite the way I wanted it to. Though, I know that if I spent a few more hours fiddling with a few things I would absolutely end up where I would like this to be.

Why Create Art? Day 248

Axiom Verge fan art drawn by Robert Chapman

I photographed this a little poorly. There’s just too much contrast so it ended up a bit too bright. I was going to go back and redo it, but it doesn’t really matter. I’ll be finished with this piece tomorrow and so I’ll make sure the finalized photograph is as high in quality as possible. However, no matter how well I photograph my drawings, they always just look a lot better when viewed in person. I keep hearing that from people, at least.

Looking Ahead: Day 247

Axiom Verge fan art drawn by Robert Chapman

Here’s a brief update from me for today. I have company over so I’m not really able to concentrate enough to write anything significantly awesome. So, here’s how far I’ve got on my Axiom Verge fan art. The color you see here is the only color that’s going to be in this picture. So all I have left to do is continue to fill in all of the background with black ink.

Axiom Verge Hard Mode: Day 246

Axiom Verge fan art drawn by Robert Chapman

Hard modes in video games, do you jump to the highest difficulty on your first play through the game? I know some people that have done that. Personally, I play the game on normal for my first time through. However, if after beating it I feel that the game deserves more of my time, for one reason or another, then I’ll likely try a harder difficulty at that point. Honestly though, if trophies weren’t involved, I’m not sure I would bother more often than not. There’s just something about having proof attached to your account that you finished something.

Axiom Verge is The Best: Day 245

Axiom Verge fan art drawn by Robert Chapman

Happy Friday, peoples. Since I finished that chameleon yesterday, and that was all digital, I decided to start a new project on real paper! That’s right, pencils, pens, and an eraser (as you can see). My absolutely favorite game to play right now is Axiom Verge on Playstation 4. This game – and I’ve talked about this on here before – is a retro 8-bit/16-bit inspired side-scrolling adventure game. So, because I love it so gosh darn much, I decided to draw one of the alien characters, Elsenova.
