Blog Post Schedule: Day 225

"Dark Cutie" by Robert Chapman

I’ve had a photograph of a woman in a snowy forest on my HDD for awhile now, and I finally got around to painting her. Here’s the photographer’s Pinterest page, with the original photograph present a little ways down the page, and you can see she does all kinds of fantastic fantasy style photography. I think my digital painting turned out pretty excellent, considering that I never ever draw people.

Webcomic – My Life is Weird: Day 224

First page of a web comic by Robert Chapman

Alright, so I’m not finished with the Blaster Master digital painting that I’ve been working on lately, but I’m going to try my best to stick to a new type of schedule. A schedule that I’m not quite prepared to share in full, as there isn’t anything concrete that’s worth sharing yet. I’m going to try following what I have written down so far for awhile and see how it goes.

So then, with today being Friday, I have in my notes that I should try starting (or working on) a long term project. Yes, I could of just continued working on the Blaster Master picture, but I’ll save that for another day. I think it’s time for a nice change of pace.

Giant Blue Mint Cookie: Day 223

Blaster Master fan art by Robert Chapman

I was hoping to get a lot more done today, but this will have to suffice. I painted with my niece for an hour earlier today and got a line of the yellow-ish grass completed in my Blaster Master picture. That was pretty much it for today. She drew a giant blue mint cookie! She’s a fantastic artist and I love hanging out with her.

That’s about all I’m going to get done for creating artwork today. It is my birthday after all, so I’m pretty busy today. Tomorrow seems like it’ll be more of the same but I’ll try to squeeze in some drawing time in the AM.

Dreaming of a Webcomic: Day 222

Blaster Master fan art by Robert Chapman

Welcome to the first ever 222nd post for my first Year of Creative Habits. I wonder if I’ll ever reach 222nd days on my second year, or even the year after that. I certainly plan on continuing this for as long as I can, and I have no reason to think I would ever quit, but we all know that things change eventually. I would love to have a list of years on the top of my website; year 1, year 2, year 3, etc. Each with 365 posts with artwork attached for each of those days.

Succeeding With Patreon: Day 221

Blaster Master fan art by Robert Chapman

So I pledged $10 to a fellow Patreon artist last night. His named is Ray Dillon and I briefly chatted with him the day I set up my own Patreon page. He seemed like a fellow worth pledging because he genuinely seems to want to help other artists. See, Patreon has a reward system for people that get involved and help support other artists, and my reward for pledging the $10 is to have some of my work shared online by Ray to help get “more eyes on your art”. It’s a pretty spectacular idea actually, and it’s definitely something I would LOVE to be able to do for someone else. Someday. When I have 9,000+ followers on social media like Ray does, perhaps.

Inspirational Level Design: Day 220

Blaster Master fan art by Robert Chapman

Oh wow, after spending hours working on this in Photoshop, all zoomed in painting each pixel individually, when I see it like this all zoomed out it really looks fantastic! Even though I’m not creating my own unique creatures, painted scenery, or crazy abstract things, I think what I’ve been working on for the past couple weeks has got me more excited than anything. Starting with that Castlevania title screen I did, and now this Blaster Master in-game picture, I’ve never been more excited to get back to my drawing each day.

More Nintendo Fan Art: Day 219

Blaster Master fan art by Robert Chapman

Just a brief update for today because I’m pretty busy. As you can see, I got started on my next Nintendo fan art piece. This one is from another one of my favorite Nintendo games, and I think I’m (so far) doing it some justice. It’s not a title screen, but rather an in-game screen shot from when I was playing it last night.

I have some other games lined up already, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Guardian Legend, Mega Man, and Crystalis. All games I grew up playing and would love to show them some love by painting (to the best of my ability) some title screens and/or some in-game screenshots. We’ll see how this one turns out. Any idea what game this is? Here’s a hint; It’s Blaster Master!
