And Now For Something Completely Different: Day 208

Painted Nintendo title screen

I finally got started on my Nintendo title screens! I decided to set aside what I was working on yesterday, and move onto something I could get a bit excited about. It’s funny though, when you’re working on the really small scale, and you get thinking that things might not looking quite detailed enough, you zoom out and look at the picture in it’s entirety and find that things are actually turning out okay.

That being said, I’ve already learned quite a bit about the process of creating these. Going forward to when I start the next title screen, I’ll use a different brush. This one turned out looking like this was created with a marker, which is kind of cool, but not quite the effect I was going for. I’ll try and replicate a proper paint effect next time.

Looking at this image thumbnail here, I’ve surprised myself with how great this is turning out. Once I have all that black filled in, I think it’ll look awesome. I’m so stoked with how great this is turning out!

On the list of title screens I will absolutely complete is: Blaster Master, Crystalis, Contra, Mega Man, and Super Mario Bros. 3. I’m sure I’ll tackle some others afterwards, because there’s a massive list of NES games that I want to pay tribute to. These are games that inspired me to draw when I was a kid. Hell, when I go back and play those games even today they still inspire me!

So, that’s what I’ve been working on. Hope everyone’s having a terrific middle of the week.

    • Thanks, Brad! I’ve missed you around these parts lately. I definitely have plans to continue making more, and I have some interesting (NES related) plans moving forward too.
