Not in Space: Day 292

My Spaceship by Robert Chapman

Ha! And you though this was going to be in space. Well, myself included, actually. A kind of vision popped in my head today while I was making the ship a little bit smaller. I thought of a snow covered world, and a spaceship battle through a ravine. The ground, and that explosion there, is pretty early on in concept. So take the lack of detail with a grain of salt at the moment.

This kind of has a Star Wars feel to it, eh? Maybe because of the snow covered planet, but I feel it’s more than that. Though I can’t exactly put my finger on it. At this moment it’s an intimate dogfight between two spaceships, but as was suggested to me yesterday, I should have more battles going on in the background. I just have to figure out how I’m going to approach that, and whether it will look really good, or just cluttered. That’s just something I’ll have to think about tomorrow.

Oh, just thinking about this right at this very moment, but I think I should brighten up the ship color. I’m not sure if I should make it a bright primary color as I don’t want it to look too much like a cartoon. However, I need it to stand out from the background a bit more. With the ground being snow-covered, my metallic ship doesn’t pop as much as it did on the black background. Also, night time starry sky? Or colored sky (perhaps not simply blue) with clouds? I haven’t decided. What do you think?
