When I’m working meticulously – all zoomed in – I start thinking that maybe this project isn’t going to turn out so good. I keep working anyways, a little bit at a time. Steady as she goes. Then comes time to save my work and prepare it for posting. When I look at it in it’s default size at the top of this post, I realize just how perfect it is. This is turning out better than I had even hoped it would. The little lights on the city, the lighter bits at the top, and even those purple pants, they all look pretty great.

Now we’re making some progress, eh? I think my favorite piece of this so far is the guard part of the hilt because it has a really nice shape, in comparison to the rest of the sword. I can possibly do better with the blade, but for now I think everything looks really good. It’s going to stay the way it is until I get further along with the character himself, and the industrial city in the background.

Okay, so today I was trying to figure out what else I would like to draw today. I still wanted to take something familiar and apply my own pattern-like design over top of it. I decided to choose an iconic shot from the 1997 Playstation game Final Fantasy VII. It’s certainly not my favorite game in the long running series, but I don’t think it’s too far off. It would certainly fit in my top 5, I’m sure. However, it most definitely is – by a long shot – the most famous Final Fantasy. Not to mention that it was revealed just yesterday that the game is being completely remade for a new generation of RPG fans. Seems fitting that I use this as my subject for my next bit of artwork. Hello! Today I show a piece of artwork I’ve been actually working on for a few days now. I’ve previously shared it over on Patreon, but now I’m ready to start posting my progress here. Even though I’m pretty far along, I still have a lot left to do. There’s the matter of figuring out what I’m going to do with the background color, finishing the clouds (possibly darkening them), and filling up the sky with a blue pattern.
