Relaxing: Day 252

"Colored Leafy" pen/pencil drawing by Robert Chapman

So, it looks like I’m about half way done the background details. I find it’s quite relaxing working on minuscule details like these. It probably has something to do with doing a repetitive task that you don’t have to think too much about, while working towards the end-goal of filling up the page.

There’s nothing special going on today, so there’s nothing new to report. Lots of playoff NHL hockey, new Star Wars trailers are out, and The Witcher 3 is about a month away. Other than those things I’ve just been commenting on other artists work.

Chinese Water Dragon: Day 251

Water Dragon Oily by Robert Chapman

I was originally going to have the continuation of yesterday’s drawing be the front image for today, however I also put some fun paint effects on this photo of a water dragon and I think it’s worth showing off. I would still like to actually paint my own version of this sometime, rather than adding Photoshop effects, but I’m still toying with different ideas. I think I want to go completely abstract with it and perhaps make it full of swirly colorful bits.

Having Patience: Day 250

"Colored Leafy" pen/pencil drawing by Robert Chapman

I’m not sure if this drawing will turn out as good as I’m hoping, but I do love jumping into a project with no guarantees. I may regret making it so colorful in the end, but perhaps I should just go all out with the colors so it all fits into a specific mood or theme. I just need to stay patient, and keep working. The leafy looking bits in the background are killing my wrist, but I know they’ll look good when it’s all finished.

Colorful Abstract Drawing: Day 235

Circular Abstract digital painting by Robert Chapman

It’s Tuesday! I was thinking about working on my Chameleon today, but I looked at my schedule and I wanted to make Tuesday a day where I build something colorful and abstract. Well, my Chameleon does kind of fit into that category, but I ultimately decided to create something new. I’m glad I did, this abstract picture turned out exactly as I had hoped it would!

Abstract Digital Painting: Day 228

Colorful Abstract Painting by Robert Chapman

So, Tuesday’s are labeled as “Abstract Day” on my schedule, so for about an hour I fiddled around with a couple colors and brushes via Photoshop and this abstract digital painting is what I came up with. I could of worked on it for another hour, but I have company coming over shortly and I seem to enjoy my time away from my artwork a lot more when I don’t have work sitting there, waiting for me to finish. So now that this post will be up and out of the way, it won’t be bothering me in the back of my mind.

Drawing Pen Techniques: Day 227

"Black Pen Scratches" by Robert Chapman

So, with today being Monday, according to the schedule I made a few days ago that means today is a day where I put pen to real life paper and draw something relatively simple. I’m sure most people can relate, but I’m not too fond of Monday’s. I find nothing of importance ever seems to happen on a Monday, and so they just kind of come and go and are eventually forgotten. Not like a Saturday. Now, Saturday’s are awesome…
