It’s finished! My Nintendo fan art for StarTropics (one of my favorite games of all time) is complete. I think I did a good job representing the source material. This shot was shown during the end-credits after you finish the story in the game. It was a slide show displaying, in all it’s 8-bit glory, a bunch of important scenes from the game.

Full Blog Transparency: Day 217
This picture is coming along really nicely! I also got a fantastic idea, though I’m not sure if I can fully realize the idea properly. I want to take some in-game NES screen shots and paint those up. I have no idea if they’ll end up looking okay, but it would be fun. Here’s the idea proper; start painting a screen and for the first day or so, once I post it, it might not be fully apparent what game it’s from. After a few days though it would click for some people, I’m sure. Like I mentioned, I may not be able to realize this fully because on the first day there might be some obvious features (like from Zelda or Mario, for instance) that a gamer of any age would recognize. After I’m done with this StarTropics one, I’ll jump right into another and see how it goes.
Patreon: Day 216
So, I’m officially set up on Patreon. I’ve mentioned Patreon a time or two before on this website, and I didn’t think I was going to use it. Today though, I spent the day setting up my page, and making sure all the proper information was filled out to the best of my ability. It took a long time, but I think everything is in order. I decided to use it because of a very simple question, “Why not?”. There really wasn’t a good reason why I shouldn’t try it out.
Copyright Mess: Day 215
Well, originally I was pretty excited about working on these title screens because I loved the idea of eventually being able to get them printed out onto different items; like T-shirts and pillow cases. However, it’s not worth even going into it because there ‘might’ be just too many hoops to jump through legally with the potential of copyright issues. I mean, everywhere you go there are fan art t-shirts being sold anyways, but it seems once in awhile someone like Nintendo will go out of their way to crush one of those fans.
Duvet? Duvet! – Castlevania: Day 214
So there we go, I got all the main bits all together to form the NES classic Castlevania’s title screen. I’m noticing that I have to adjust a bit of the text because a couple of the characters aren’t quite in the right spot. However, before I upload these to be sold on t-shirts or as prints, I need to make sure I add my own personal touch to it. I have some ideas…
Ideas From my Brain – Castlevania: Day 213
Besides touching up a few spots with some detail, and a gray line at the bottom, I have just a bit of text left to do before I’m finished my first NES title screen! Despite being asked in a comment the other day to do Super Mario Bros. 3 next, I think I’m going to start on Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest. I’m just thinking about this now, so I could very well change my mind by tomorrow. We’ll see…
Quick Castlevania Update: Day 212
Today’s post is just a super quick update. Hope everyone’s having an enjoyable Sunday. I went ahead and spent 45 minutes smoothing out my Castlevania title screen. The Konami text and logo, the bat, the castle, and the word “key” have all had their rough pixel-look removed and replaced with what I can only call pure smoothness.
I think this Castlevania picture looks much better this way, and as I’ve said in previous posts, consistency is important. I’ still unsure 100% whether I can put these on t-shirts in the future, but I’ll continue to look into it.
