Well, this certainly went through some pretty major changes since yesterday. I thought everything looked a bit too separated from one another in the old version, so I wanted everything to feel more connected. I think I accomplished that, but to what end? I’m not sure what I’m going for here really, or how I want this to turn out. But I’m starting to edge back towards science fiction again. As soon as I made that little design on top of the sphere, I thought it looked like a city. Now I have this awesome idea of making the entire picture feel like futuristic city, but still hold onto this weird style of keeping everything pretty much formless.

Looking Back: Day 304
I’m not sure if I’ve yet found the theme I was looking for when I started drawing this yesterday. All three of the objects in the image (the circle, large tentacles, and the small ones) have three fairly distinct gold patterns on them. The small tentacle’s gold patterns are quite erratic, the large tentacle’s kind of have a mechanical look, and the globe has a mix of both. I’m not finished with this this by a long shot, but I do feel that the all encompassing “thing” that will tie everything together hasn’t been figured out yet. I’ll just have to keep toiling away at this until I’m satisfied I’ve found it.
Abstract Themes: Day 303
I’m currently not too sure where I’m going with this abstract tentacle thing, but I really needed a break from epic scenes where there’s lots of planning and figuring things out. Today, I just painted a whole lot of wavy lines. It was very relaxing, and I can’t wait to get back to it tomorrow to see where this image ends up.
Sprite Ship Complete: Day 302
Technically I could still add a whole bunch of minor details before I call this one completed, but I’ve been inspired to move on and do something else. That’s not to say this doesn’t look pretty badass, actually. I feel that the entire picture meshes well, and nothing stands out too much. I was afraid that adding a big ‘ol planet in the background there would detract from the ships. However, I feel it fits perfectly.
Lost Progress: Day 301
This isn’t the ship I was working on last time! Yeah, well somehow that other red ship went missing. Not quite sure how I worked on something for hours, saved web versions of the ship to upload to my website, and never once saved an original? Was I that distracted or something on day 299? I dunno. No matter! I’m not fretting in the least, because look at the new ship I’m making!
Day 300 of my Year of Creative Habits Project
Hello there! And welcome to my 300th post in a row for my first Year of Creative Habits. It’s been quite the fantastic journey throughout the entire process, but today I’m just going to look back at the last 100 days. Same as I’ve done for my 100th, and 200th post. Today feels a bit different though, because there isn’t another 100 posts ahead of me, there’s just 65 days left. Well, until I’m done my first year anyways. That’s… kinda exciting.
New Ship: Day 299
I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this new ship quite yet. It’s still very early on, but when I’m unsure about it, that usually means I don’t like it very much. It will likely go through a lot of changes in the coming days. However, tomorrow I’m going to be spending a whole lot of time putting together my 300th post, where I’ll look back on the last 100 days.
