Making Decent Progress: Day 32

Faucet Adorable Scientist

Hello, people! Got all my work done early today. I’m trying to figure out how best to explain some of these images, as they are a little odd when viewed out of context. However, I’ve decided that it doesn’t really matter. When Kathy’s presentation is all done and over with, I’ll make a huge post explaining all the slides and, with her permission, post a copy of her presentation and which slides go with what. That would be pretty cool, I think.

There’s a good chance I’ll be going back and doing some editing, either as I go along or when I’m all finished. That would be after Kathy looks over everything. She’ll no doubt want to make a few changes here and there. So none of these are final really.

So now I’m finished with page 1, as far as the drawing part goes anyways. I have about 12 more slides to go. Wow, thinking about it that way, it’s not really a whole lot. I feel like I’m making decent progress all of a sudden. No slacking though!

Fire Walker: Day 31

image

Here are some feet. It’s probable that these feet will get toasty.

I’m posting this really late! I’ve been gone for the entire day, and wasn’t planning on it. I thankfully drew this before I left this morning, and I love how the feet turned out. Not as happy about the coals right now. Tomorrow I plan to get a lot more done!

Tomorrow’s check list includes:

– Finishing the feet picture
– Working on my picture of a running faucet
– Scientist cartoon with her pointer

Day 30

KathyHeads

Here we are at day 30. It’s a pretty big deal. For the next week or two it’s going to be all updates on the project I’m working on. Still creating slides for a presentation for my friend, Kathy. I added a dangly motorcycle earring to the original Kathy image, and created the second one. The second one is going to match up with a part of her presentation where she finds out she’s going to be walking on fire. I thought the expression was pretty fitting for the situation. Though I’m sure I’ll still be making changes and edits as the days go on.

Now that I’m starting to get some ideas for what to create for each slide, I’m already falling into a good rhythm. I’m still quite stressed about the whole situation though, as she’s counting on me, but I’m managing.

First off, she obviously wants me to do a really good job on all the slides, and keep them relevant to what she’s saying during those 15 seconds. But, I really have no idea what looks good to other people. I send her an image to get her opinion and I honestly have zero clue whether it’s awesome, terrible, or juvenile. It’s not easy! The images also can’t be too distracting, or give away what a punch-line or key piece of information will be before she says it.

Then there’s the time restraint. I have something like 9 or so days, give or take, to get this completed. 20 slides. I constantly worry that I won’t get them done in time, or go too quickly and end up not spending near enough time on some of the images.

Overall, it’s a wonderful opportunity. I’m really enjoying the time spent drawing this character. And when I look over the rest of the presentation, I feel I should be able to come up the right images to go along with it.

Probability Vs Possibility: Day 29

Slide1

So today I got started on my new project. Doing 20 slides for a lady named Kathy. She’ll be giving a 5 minute presentation for IGNITE. Her presentation is awesome! Quite funny too. We timed it all out and she needs exactly 20 slides in total. Each will be displayed in 15 second intervals. And I’ll be posting all of them on here as I finish them.

I’m pretty nervous about the whole thing actually. Need to figure out exactly what I’ll be featuring in each slide. There won’t be anything too distracting or complicated. But I only have a little more than a week to do it.

Snakey Dragon Thing: Day 28

Flighty

I’m pretty late posting my picture for today! Been feeling off all day today actually. Don’t get me wrong though, it was actually a pretty decent day. But I just didn’t get enough sleep last night, I haven’t even eaten much of anything, and I’m stressing about an interview tomorrow morning. Probably why I haven’t had much of an appetite.

There isn’t all that much of a story with this guy. I just needed to draw something, so I started with the eyes, and then finished the face and head. He looked like a frog, but that was too easy, so I made him into a snake. Then I felt bad because he had no limbs. So, now he can fly. Cool beans. At least I posted something. Yaaaaaaaaaay….. *snore*

Doodling With my Niece, Emily: Day 27

Candy Bombs

Bright and colorful bombs, filled with delicious candy, are heading down towards…

EmilyWorld

Emily World! Where anything is possible. The evil Fat Octopus Man is terrorizing everyone! Oh, look it’s the Super Onion Guy who’s saving the day by… making everyone cry! Pigs shaped like sprinkled doughnuts! Awesome beards! And giant heads with black-holes for mouths! Ridiculously awesome.

So yeah, today I spent the afternoon drawing with my 8 year old niece, Emily. I picked her up from school today. It’s only, I think, her 3rd day of grade 3. I had to scout around to find her when the bell rang as I wasn’t sure which doors she would burst from. I ended up finding her rolling around in the sand at the school’s playground. We walked home, drank some chocolate milk, and drew our stuff. I would of never came up with the candy bombs I drew if she didn’t inspire me with her 8 year old wackiness.

First Nation Style: Day 26

Indian turtle drawing photograph

It was suggested to me last night to try my hand at drawing some first nation style art. At first I was worried that it might be inappropriate. I definitely didn’t want to commit any cultural appropriation or anything. I’m not of native decent. However, after doing some research and seeing the different types of first nation style art that was out there, I had to try my hand at it. At the very least to show appreciation for this wonderful style. Also, I love turtles.

I think it turned out perfectly. It looks way better, as usual, in real life on paper than it does in this photograph. I don’t think I could have done a better job.
